Photography Workshop for kids (ages 9 to 15 yrs)

Gulmohar Days is happy to host a fun and hands-on Photography workshop for kids in the month of July.

COURSE TITLE: Photography Workshop (Basic Course)

AGE GROUP: 9 to 15 yrs

DAYS: Every Saturday (5 sessions of 2 hours each)

DATES: Indoor sessions: 24th, 31st of July; 7th, 14th of Aug, 2010
             Outdoor session: 21st of August, 2010

TIME: 11.00 am to 1.00 pm

COURSE FEE: Rs 1300/ for the entire workshop

MATERIALS REQD: Children must bring their digital cameras from home for each of the sessions. Camera must have an empty memory card and fully charged battery.
COURSE CONTENT:
• Camera History - Defining photography and how it began
• Camera handling, Using a point-and-shoot camera (parts, functions, handling, and storage)
• Essentials of a good photo
• composition and color
• capturing subjects from various viewpoints
• viewing and feedback of students photos
• The outdoor session would be a fun day wherein kids will use techniques they have learned in class

As always we will accept only a limited number of participants in this group. Pls call at the earliest if you wish to enroll your child in our workshop or for any further inquiries regarding fee structure.

Art Experience: A unique art programme for kids ages 9-15 years

There is small correction in the schedule: The art experience group will meet EVERY FRIDAY and not Thursdays as mentioned below. The change in day is as a result of several parents requesting for a Friday class.

Free Event for Library members!

Its "Movie Day" at Gulmohar Days!

Its lovely how some books are brought to life through films. We thought it would be great idea to read out a story and watch the film too this Saturday with all our library members!

So get ready for a fun two hours as we screen the much loved Walt Disney classic "Lady and The Tramp" this coming Saturday, the 5th of June 2010.

Event: The reading of Lady & the Tramp followed by the movie
Time: Be there by 10. 15 sharp!
Fee: Free event for all kids who are presently library members.
         Non members welcome too ! ( Rs 50 per child)

Activity Clubs at Gulmohar Days

Story Club: meets every Tuesday, 5.30 – 6.30 pm	Trinity Speech and Communication Programme: meets every Monday from 5.30 to 6.30 pm	Trinity Speech and Communication Programme: meets every Wednesday from 5.30 to 6.30 pm
Phonics Club: meets every Friday, 5.30 – 6.30 pm	Fitness Club: A great mix of Yoga, dance and kickboxing that makes the perfect after-school fitness programme. Every Monday and Friday: 4.00 to 5.00 pm	Art Class: A unique and advanced art programme we call “Art Experience” wherein kids will learn about the lives of renowned artists, understand their techniques and develop a style of their own. Still life, landscapes, abstract art and more will be taught through well structured modules. Basic medium will be acrylics on paper and canvas. Every Thursday from 4.30 – 6.30 pm
Library: The best way to ensure your child bonds with books from the early years. Open 10.00 am to 7.00 pm Monday to Saturday	Craft Club: Meets every Saturday from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm	Fitness Club: A great mix of Yoga, dance and kickboxing that makes the perfect after-school fitness programme. Every Monday and Friday: 4.00 to 5.00 pm
Free Play: Drop your child off for a fun 2 hours of monitored play any time between 10.00 am and 7.00 pm. Ideal if you have an errand to run and want to leave your child with us for some fun and learning.	Library: A must for children who wish to improve vocabulary, general knowledge and develop a love for books. Open 10.00 am to 7.00 pm Monday to Saturday	Craft Club: Meets every Saturday from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm

IMPORTANT: Enrollments for each of these activities is already underway. At Gulmohar Days our focus at all times is on the quality of our programmes. We therefore request your cooperation in understanding that we cannot take in more than the specified number of kids into any batch. Registrations are always on a first come first served basis. 

Also, it is with a lot of thought we have specified age limits for each programme. Most times a child's skill level predictably falls into the parameters specified by us. However we do realize that it is a child's ability and not his age that should define his participation in any programme. Pls feel free to discuss this with us should you feel the age limit prevents your child from being part of any prog. at our centre.

Summer Sparkle 2010 comes to a close

We have had a grand summer at Gulmohar Days. Summer sparkle 2010 came to a close today with our last session of summer camp for kids this afternoon.

Poetry, writing, art, craft, science, music, stories: its been a a hectic summer. Our heartfelt Thank You to the parents who enrolled their child/children in our programmes. The kids have been an absolute delight. It has been a privilege to have interacted with so many of them.

Wishing them all a fantastic academic year ahead. May they all have wonderful teachers and friends in their new classes and may the year be filled with good cheer. We hope to continue seeing them in the months to come. Please do keep in touch with us.

All our Activity Clubs resume from the second week of June 2010. We are adding new books to our exisiting Library collection. This year, make your child a "Reader"!! :)

Creative Corner

Our Creative Corner craft workshop received a wonderful response this Summer. The kids as always amazed us with their fresh and new ideas. They took home lampshades, fabric paintings, handcrafted place mats, flowers, decorated thalis, tie and dye handkerchiefs and so much more in the one month they spent with us. Do enjoy the pictures! And we hope to see all of you at our regular Craft Club that meets every Saturday from the month of June2010.

The O'Keeffe Montage

Our 2 day art workshop "Discovering Georgia O'keeffe" was a great success. Thank you ladies for making yet another workshop at Gulmohar Days an absolute pleasure. Summer fun at our Mixed Bag camp!

The past 10 days have been a sheer delight! Our mixed bag summer camp for kids got off to a great start with kids ages 3 to 5 years coming together for a fun 2 hour session every morning. From block printing to painting, singing and yoga to magic ink and learning about the solar system....we attempted it all! To all parents who were part of this 10 day camp - our heartfelt Thank You! It was a joy having your child with us and we hope they enjoyed every bit of their time with us as well. Here are some of the pictures that capture all the excitement and action.
